When talking about “fitness for duty,” the challenge of managing fatigue is one of the most important factors contributing to safe operations. Fatigue causes issues from memory deficit to irritability and much more, noted Dr. Daniel Mollicone, chief scientist and CEO of Pulsar Informatics. “In general, every aspect of our cognition and function is diminished. We are a worse version of ourselves when we are fatigued,” he said, adding that sleep is a “biological imperative.” Greg Farley, chair of the Fitness for Duty Working Group of NBAA’s Safety Committee, urged flight departments to develop a fatigue management program to help combat the problem.

In this episode of NBAA Flight Plan, host Rob Finfrock speaks with:

  • Daniel Mollicone, chief scientist and CEO of Pulsar Informatics
  • Greg Farley, global captain for Deere & Company Aviation Services
