Quantifying Fatigue Risk as Part of the Flight Risk Assessment
The annual Air Medical Transport Conference has gone virtual this year. The conference offers 60+ education sessions covering topics in a variety of disciplines including safety, core clinical, specialty clinical, management, aviation, research, and communications. Be sure to catch Dr. Daniel Mollicone's talk on quanitifying fatigue risk as part of the flight risk assessment.

Quantifying Fatigue Risk as Part of the Flight Risk Assessment
Wednesday 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Presented by:
Joe Gallagher, Director-Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality
Daniel Mollicone, PhD, CEO & Chief Scientistic, Pulsar Informatics
Pre-flight risk assessment is essential to ensure safety of crewmembers and passengers. A key element of the risk assessment is pilot fatigue. When we are fatigued, we are impaired. But how much fatigue is too much? This presentation will demonstrate tools and approaches to assess fatigue risk using a quantitative objective framework with clear thresholds to trigger fatigue mitigation workflows. Results from a fatigue risk management implementation in a large air medical transport operation will be presented.
